Saraid's Baby Shower - How to co-host from afar

Sometimes living in London is great.

Sometimes, it is not so great.

Like when your closest friends are going through the most exciting time of their lives, and suddenly London feels worlds away from everywhere and everyone who are important in our lives.

But having lived away from loved ones for a while now, I feel like I'm starting to find better ways of still being involved and part of their special moments.

Sometimes it takes one or two planes to literally be there,  often it is just lots and lots of weekend Skype sessions, and sometimes, I need to send a meg-package to have as much of me there as possible.

My friend Saraid recently had her baby shower in Brisbane, and the thought of not being involved in this special day was far too much for me to bear. And so I got together with her mum Anne, and sister Mikaela and helped to co-host Saraid's shower, from afar.

(Saraidy, Anne, Mikaela and wee little Saoirse)

I sent my little care-package off to Mikaela a few weeks before the shower, which had all sorts of things that I would decorate the party with, had I actually have been there.

It was such a collaborative effort, and Mik and Anne did such a wonderful job.

Granny Annie made her very first diaper cake, which looked to be baked to perfection!

And Meeche was happy to be the "baby shower photographer officiale" to capture the beautiful afternoon celebrating the blooming mama-to-be!

wanted Saraid to walk into the room and feel like I could just be topping up drinks or getting some canapés out of the oven, and that I wasn't missing a thing. I was so thankful to still be included in this special day, celebrating my dear friend and her sweet baby. I am now giddy with excitement to get THE call in the middle of the night and just can't wait to meet this special little lady.

  5. Oh I'm sorry I didn't see either of these messages until just now. I made the invites myself, and just made a template through lots of trial and error foldings!!! I wish I had kept the template, it would have totally be useful to you!!!! I find it hard to find lots of things in the UK too, which is why I seem to end up making most things. Thanks so much for stopping by xx
