Christmas 2013: Table for 8

Christmas has been wonderful, chaotic, tiring, sickly, filling and delicious!

We've had my Brother and his troops staying in our neighbours flat downstairs (how incredibly generous are our friends?!) and we have had such an incredible week coming and going between our two flats, and sharing everything. Everything, worst of all, the tummy virus! We've had two trips to A&E, one Doctor visit, loads and loads of washing, and lots of sleepless nights as we all have suffered various flus. Poor little Maddie is still very sick which is heartbreaking to not be able to help her,  but she has moments where she finds her smile so we're hoping she turns the corner soon, poor little girl. Hands down, the hardest part of being a parent.

We are trying to make the most of our time together, but as have all been so unwell that we've had limited opportunities to get out and about (and ahem, no time to post sorry!!). But the one thing that hasn't suffered this week is our appetites, it has been a week of indulgent deliciousness. I had so much fun planning the menu for the day, setting it all up and making all the delicious food as a family, and so I wanted to share our Christmas table(s) with you!

Our day kicked off on the right note, with Drunken Cranberry Pancakes with Honeycomb Butter.

The Christmas menu was the culmination of much daydreaming and I must say, it was pretty darn special.

We had a few hours break between mains and desserts, to which we then had Kara's Christmas Trifle, and my Gluten Free Plum Pudding (served with homemade vanilla ice cream and brandy butter).

And yes, that is equal parts ice-cream equal parts Brandy Butter! It's Christmas, come on!!!

The treats that we had before and after (and during) Christmas were Coconut Macaroon Trees (GF), Gingerbread Rumballs (GF), Fruit Mince Pies (GF), and Eggnog Melting Moments (yes, GF).

I wanted personalised bonbon's (Christmas Crackers) so made up crackers for everyone, that even had the little "snap" pull thingy too! The kids had little Christmas stickers and treats, and the adults had teeny bottles of spirits.

So, its a little late, but Merry Christmas from our families to yours! May your festive season be sparkly and bright and may your new year be filled with hope and happiness.
